You might ask, why the focus on building passive income streams, aside the obvious ideal of not having to directly earn money through one’s continual efforts?

Simple:

One can always make more money. You can spend a little. You can spend a lot. Either way, through hook or crook, it’s almost always possible to replace whatever amount of money has been lost in some manner.

Time, on the other hand, can only be spent. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. Aside from the basics of taking care of yourself physically, the time you have is the time you have. To paraphrase the estimable William S. Burroughs in his Words of Advice For Young People, there are no honorable bargains involving the exchange of qualitative merchandise, like souls, for quantitative merchandise, like money.

In other words, I’m looking to maximize my ability to use whatever time has been allocated to me as I see fit.

So piss off Satan, and don’t take me for dumber than I look.
